2010_03_23 Tuesday

We are back from a long weekend with Oma and Opa. On the way out, he saw DOC prisoners picking up trash and asked me if they were looking for chickens, since he wears a bright orange hat when he does. What a riot. It took him a little while to warm up to the dogs, who were both very excited to lick a new face. We had a great time. Oma and I had a wonderful couples' massage on Friday. what a treat. And, Opa and I saw Shutter Island at the theater! Ok flick, but nice to go to a real theater. Jonathan had a blast with the dogs, chickens, and all the activities, including playing trains in the new house's loft. And, he seemed to really like sleeping/reading/snuggling in the Foxhole.

When we got back, there had been lots of construction progress:
So that is very exciting. And, today the electrician seems to have finished up his work, so all the switches work as they should. Fun stuff!

I'm really feeling pregnant now. It's hard to walk for any length of time.

2010_03_18 Thursday

Today is a big day: Jonathan is taking a nap in big boy underpants for the first time. He refused to wear pull-ups and wasn't thrilled to wear them to story time at the library earlier this morning, but acquiesced because we had numerous other errands to run too. He's been in his room, quiet, for about 45 minutes now. I expect this nap to be a relatively short one for him b/c he often poops/pees in his sleep, but we shall see. Well, he did pee, and pee he did. But, it's all a process. We cleaned him up and headed out to the park for about two hours. Then, we picked up Dave en route home. We sort of had dinner together (GC was here for unknown reason, pulling Dave away from us). But, the boys are hanging out doing bathtime and bedtime while I pack for our adventure to the Barony tomorrow!

Construction moves (or creeps) along...

Tonight, I also caught a glimpse of Biggles in the backyard. While it was frustrating that he ran away, it was some consolation to see him alive and nearby. I put a ton of treats out along with a 1/2 can of food, hoping that will entice him to stick around. poor little man.

2010_03_16 Tuesday

We had a lovely weekend in VA to pick up our bassinet, a car seat, some baby clothes, and to see some friends and family. Jonathan got to spend a lot of time with his aunts/uncles/grandparents, and he seemed to really enjoy himself. And, I got a surprise baby shower in MD! what fun.

We got home to a very dusty house. The contractors had made good progress, but the dust was really thick. I spent the better part of two hours vacuuming the downstairs to make it livable. They're still not done yet, but getting closer.

Unfortunately, Biggles escaped over the weekend, and he hasn't returned yet. :o( We're trying everything we can to no avail...yet. Luckily the weather should be nicer for the next few days.

I had a routine doctor's appointment this morning that Jonathan helped me with. This time, he actually let my doctor put the gel on his chest and listen to his heartbeat! That was pretty cool. Everything's great with me. I'm getting A LOT of movement (especially when there's music) and perhaps a pinched nerve here and there.

2010_03_09 Tuesday

We managed to only go through two outfits (because of pee) between 10-11:50am. Not too bad. And, now he's sitting on the toilet, telling me to 'go outside' because he wants to poop. progress......

2010_03_07 Sunday

We did our first (of two) hospital tour this morning of Overlook! When I told Jonathan that we were going to the hospital, he asked if I was having a baby! ha. It's literally 5 miles from home -- just not in the direction I thought. Jonathan struggled with hos-pit-al vs. hop-sipt-al for the drive there, but he did master it. Of course, we parked in the furthest lot possible and had to snake through the facility. That's why you do a dry run first. I didn't really have any questions prepared; I was more interested in finding the exact location (6th floor). The L&D rooms are enormous and private. Post-op recovery is not private (curtain partitions), but it sounds like that's a very short (if c-section) stay. The postnatal rooms are quite small, but nice enough, have an extra fold-out bed, and most are private too. We also saw the nursery with three itty-bitty newborns (wow, were they small!); Jonathan got a kick out of that. He also did a nice job talking to the nurse who gave us a tour.

2010_03_04 Thursday

This morning was my first real event as a co-leader of Mothers & More: we hosted a new members' coffee event at a local kiddy music program. I think it was nice. Jonathan had fun playing with new kids too, and I didn't have to pay too close attention to him, which was a nice change too.

Contractors are working wildly to get that bathroom done. Here's our little contractor:

2010_03_03 Wednesday

Tonight we had a nice grown-up evening!! One of Dave's coworkers invited us to see a live taping of The Colbert Report. It was awesome. What fun, and it was a pretty small audience, so we sat in one of the last rows but close enough to see the whites of his eyes. And, it was very interesting to see how a TV show gets from nothing to what we actually see.

Better yet, Jonathan had a great, fun evening playing toys with Nannie and Grandpa.
