2013_07_10 Wednesday

This will be my final post from New Jersey. We officially sold our charming 1916 Dutch Colonial today. So, let me back up to Sunday...

Sunday:
We visited Nannie and Grandpa for one last time and, of course, to celebrate Jonathan's birthday. She made a blueberry bundt cake for him that Dave could also eat. Aunt Jen and family also came over to help celebrate. Although it was a little stressful because of buying/selling houses, we did have a very nice visit.

Monday:
Jonathan opened his birthday gift: a skateboard! He was asking for one, and we figured he'd better get it before his helmet got packed up. He was really getting the hang of it.

Tuesday:
The movers arrived at 9am and were fabulous. Jonathan had a playdate with his KinderGan preschool friends (Luke, Gio, Ariella, and Avermy). It was a very special date. We went to Benihana for his birthday dinner. What fun! Elise totally missed the show b/c she missed her nap and was absolutely exhausted. Both kids used chopsticks (they were bound) expertly and focused so intently on eating. Then we had a sleep-over with our awesome neighbors, Craig and Aoi. We stayed up way too late and I (at least) drank too much! But, what fun!

Wednesday:
Picking Elise up from KinderGan today was painful; that school is one of the most special places I know. I also got a few good-bye gifts from friends: such nice gestures of women I really liked and would like to stay in touch with. Dave left with the cats (I had gotten sedatives for them) around 10am, heading for southern VA. Packing the car was a challenge; we just had too much stuff (the movers missed a couple of things that if taken, we would have had enough room in the cars for what we had planned on taking, I think). I had to leave most of our plants. Jonathan's actual birthday was spent at camp, where he did not tell a soul. (?!) Saying goodbye to Priscilla was also tough; she's really become part of the family. We left town at 4pm and headed to PA for 7-10 days while we wait for furniture to arrive. When we arrived at the Barony, there was a personalize ice cream birthday cake waiting for J2.

We are settling in to the Barony now.
